AnSem donated 25 smartphones and tablets to “Link in de Kabel”. This will help children to keep in contact with their family and friends in this difficult period of quarantine.
“Link in de Kabel” is a Leuven based organization that builds a bridge to social inclusion by making socially vulnerable children digitally competent and resilient. They contacted AnSem a few days ago because of an urgent need. They were looking for used Smartphones to distribute them to children who are at Sporen vzw. This is a special youth organization that provides temporarily housing, food and therapy typically for children with an extreme difficult home situation. They live in small groups and cannot return home or have visits now during the weekends.
The employees of AnSem did not hesitate to take action and collected 25 smartphones and tablets.
Last year AnSem employees cooked soup for each other and contributed money per cup of soup. In that way we could support “ Link in de Kabel” with 1000 Euro.
Now even more than before it is important to be part of the digital world. Too many young people are at risk of falling behind due to either a lack of qualitative and accessible access to online media and a lack of basic operational skills. Since more than 15 years, “Link in de Kabel” is active in numerous projects and uses ICT as a leverage for social progress amongst socially vulnerable children.
